The Mountain Bornum Park Fund has been started to raise funds for a playground to be placed next to the Mountain Community Center. We are a group of moms that have come together to provide a safe and fun environment for the area's children.

 

While the town of Mountain itself may not have a large population count, we are part of a large rural community.  We have many young families in the area with children who would benefit from having a safe place to play. As it is now, the closest park for children is over

 13   M I L E S   away.

We have done a LOT of research -

into different products and materials, insurance requirements, companies who can best serve our needs, and also design options!

We put together TWO amazing options to choose from.

The community voted and has chosen the basic park design with more bang for our buck!

The hot topic everyone asks about? THE Budget

​

What IS our budget you ask? Well, it's changed since we first started out. 

​

Our budget is now $50,000 for the first phase of our project

​

Does that sound like a lot of money?

Yes. HOWEVER, we can't just go out to Lowes and purchase a bunch of wooden structures and call it good.

 

In order for our playground to be covered by insurance we are required to install COMMERCIAL GRADE equipment.

Those come with a hefty price tag!

What will $50k will get us?

a custom made main structure that includes climbing walls, multiple levels of slides, and encourage imaginative play

multiple levels of swings to allow all ages to enjoy

monkey bars

spring riders

sand diggers

sea saw

tether ball area

PLUS protective ground cover and a boarder to contain it all

We would also like to add picnic tables, benches for parents, trash receptacles, and do some landscaping with a possible new basketball court for a second phase

We do have several grant opportunities to apply for, but they all require LOCAL support. Without your support, this wonderful dream will never come to life.
